Energy Efficiency Incentives
The City of Cerritos has approved a “Green Development Program” that involves incentives for existing residential upgrades that include building permit and plan check fee waivers up to a maximum of $1,000 for green building activities which include the installation of ENERGY STAR air conditioners and water heaters or solar energy systems.
“The City of Cerritos is committed to protecting the environment, improving residents’ quality of life, and promoting sustainability. To fulfill this commitment, the City established a Green Cerritos program to provide information and resources to encourage the development of a green environment comprised of green buildings and landscaping in Cerritos.”
Seat Belt Enforcement
According to the City of Cerritos web site (press release page), “The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will be aggressively enforcing California’s vehicle occupant laws as part of the state’s 2009 Click it or Ticket mobilization in November . . .” to “help reduce deaths and injuries on California’s roadways. Proper use of a seat belt cuts your chances of dying in a crash by half. California currently has an average seat belt use rate of 95.7 percent.”
